Oakleigh House, Swaffham >
Oakleigh House is once again cast as Kingdom and Kingdom’s offices where many of the serial scenes take place. Examples include the one in episode 1 where Peter embraces the role of surrogate father to his nephew, Daniel (Jack and Michael Street). Honor (Kelly Campbell), his mother, has now moved in – she has designs on Lyle (Karl Davies) who is blissfully unaware. Mr Snell (Tony Slattery) is now an even more regular visitor at Peter’s office as he has struck up a relationship with Gloria (Celia Imrie) but has thankfully discovered the art of washing! In the closing scenes of this episode Beatrice and Peter return from Daniel’s christening to find their long lost presumed dead, but possibly still alive, brother, Simon waiting for them. In episode 2 Lyle is shocked to find 2 naturists Alf (Robert Bowman) and Linda (Suzan Sylvester) Appleby, thankfully in raincoats, waiting for him in the office. Meanwhile Simon is hiding out in the offices whilst Peter tries to work out what to do and Beatrice has disappeared. PC Yelland has however heard on the grapevine that Simon is back and arrives to investigate. Peter takes evasive tactics and hides Simon in a cupboard, but Yelland is determined and returns with an arrest warrant. Also in this episode it transpires that Beatrice might be pregnant which explains why she has disappeared! More drama ensues in episode 3 when a stash of money is found which is used to get bale for Simon. Peter however does not feel he can represent him following his arrest and delegates the job to Lyle. Things go from bad to worse in episode 4 as Simon and Peter’s relationship deteriorates. It becomes clear that Simon cannot return to the practice. When Peter goes to Cambridge in episode 5 Lyle finds he has more than enough to handle with Mr Snell and a runaway bus but when Snell and Gloria go on holiday and Scott moves in, he finds he has a wayward teenager to deal with too. In episode 6 Aunt Auriel and her fellow residents move in much to Peter’s dismay and confusion – he decides to label them so he knows who is who!
