Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
Printer friendly version >
This action sequel to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider sees Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) once again set off on a quest to find the legendary Pandora's Box before the evil scientist, Jonathan Reiss (Ciaran Hinds). Directed by Jan de Bont with a budget of $120 million, The Cradle of Life grossed in excess of $156 million world-wide but was deemed a box office failure given its ‘achievement’ represented a loss of $118 million. Whilst it received slightly better reviews than the original, there is unlikely to be another film as Angelina Jolie was not interested in taking the lead role again. With the exception of the shoots in Hong Kong, Wales, Kenya and Santorini, filming took place on sound stages at Pinewood Studios in Buckingham and Hatfield House in Hertfordshire; it took three and a half months to shoot.
