The award winning BBC's Little Britain is a slice of modern life that delights in all that is mad, bad, quirky and generally bonkers about the people and places of Britain. The characted based sketch show first appeared on BBC radio and then on television in 2003. It is written by comedy duo Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

    A privately owned gothic castle in Aldenham, Hertfordshire becomes Ye Old Hotel, supposedly in Scotland. Eccentric owner Ray, played by David Walliams, is a little mad and incapable of giving a straight answer to a straight question, preferring instead to express himself through the medium of dance. This private house features in a second sketch for that of Dame Sally Markham, played by Matt Lucas, who is a romantic novelist. Reclining on chaise longue she dictates her latest masterpiece to her secretary Miss Grace, played by David Walliams.

  • Royal Connaught Park (formerly Bushey, The American Campus) >
    The former American University in Bushey, Hertfordshire and in Little Britain it becomes Kelsey Grammar School in Flange. Matt Lucas plays Mr. Cleeves who has numerous eccentricities. The first scene sees Mr. Cleeves asks students to read aloud Charles Dickens, Great Expectations except after a few words, he cuts in asking another student to continue.

  • Watford >
    The familiar tower blocks of the Meriden Estate in Watford, Hertfordshire become the home of Gary, played by Matt Lucas. Gary's best friend Jason, played by David Walliams, falls in love at first sight of Gary's grandmother, a woman in her late seventies. As the scenes continue in series one, Jason starts to flirt and start a relationship with Gary's grandmother.
