Set in the English Civil War and directed by David MacDonald with screenplay by Robert Hall and Wilfred Eades, this historical drama was based on the play by Arthur Watkyn. The story begins after the end of the English Civil War and recounts a fictionalised version of Oliver Cromwell’s (John Le Mesurier) attempts to capture King Charles II or Charles Stuart (Gary Raymond) as he was known. Sylvia Syms played Ann Wyndham. Filming took place at the former Associated British Picture Studios in Borehamwood which are no longer in existence.
