Detective Inspector Kate Ashurst (Caroline Catz) called 'Ash' and Detective Sergeant Emma Scribbins (Lisa Faulkner) referred to as 'Scribbs' find that life in the suburbs with its manicured lawns and palatial houses has a much darker and more sinister side. As partners, they investigate the murders reported to the Middleford Criminal Investigative Department answering to Detective Chief Inspector Sullivan (Jeremy Sheffield) who they both find particularly attractive!

    In episode three there are a number of scenes where Whippendell Woods feature as the backdrop including the opening scene with a man unconscious in a car surrounded by beautiful woodland; another person is also present but who? The following day Ash and Scribbs arrive at what is now a crime scene. As the story unfolds, Hannah Finch (Rebecca Lacey) the victim's wife arrives at the crime scene with Jamie (Lee Williams) his brother and it is clear that the two are more than just friends which causes suspicion. Ash then follows a hunch and goes back to the scene to find a bunch of flowers. Suspicious the person is still there she calls out, someone breaks cover and Ash gives chase through the trees. The final scene shows the killer in the actual act of murder and it all becomes clear as to who has done what to whom.
