Nominated for a number of smaller awards Nanny McPhee is a children’s fantasy film directed by Kirk Jones with screenplay by Emma Thompson, who also plays Nanny McPhee. The story is adapted from the Nurse Matilda books written by Christianna Brand and tells the tale of a magical nanny in the 19th century who is called upon to bring order to Mr Brown’s (Colin Firth) household of seven rather disruptive children. Other cast members of note include Angela Lansbury (Aunt Adelaide), Celia Imrie (Mrs Quickly) and Imelda Staunton (Mrs Blatherwick). Nanny McPhee did well in the box office grossing a worldwide total of over $122 million. Two sequels are proposed.
