The film, set on the Norfolk Broads, stars Anna Brewster (Anita and Me, Mrs Henderson Presents), Scarlett Johnson (Adulthood), Will Mellor (Two Pints of Lager…) Danny Caltagirone (The Beach, The Pianist) and Geoff Bell (Greenstreet, The Business) and is about a group of Londoners on a weekend boat trip, who discover a terrifying secret when they get stranded in the reed banks over night. As night falls and dark forces close in on them they struggle to survive. To unravel the mystery that seems to be driving events; and to overcome the evil that feeds it. Set in the Norfolk Broads the film takes as its loose inspiration the true life story of Tony Martin and reworks it into paganistic supernatural thriller (in the Great British tradition) about a cycle of violence and bloodletting in a remote rural setting, which traps and consumes all who are drawn into it. The Broads themselves are the other main character of the piece. Dug (by hand) from the peat bogs in the middle ages, they embody an ancient and timeless ecosystem of water, mud and reeds. A timeless cycle of life, death and rebirth. Eerie, endless and unforgiving.
