This Bollywood comedy romance was directed by Nikhil Advani (2nd directional venture) and released in English as Salaam-e-ishq: A Salute to Love. With its all star cast the picture weaves together six love stories set in different parts of the world. Each of the characters has a different background and alternate lifestyles but are brought together by fate … and love. In one stroy Kamna (Priyanka Chopra) changes her name to Kamini to leave her past behind her. She hires a manager, Babu (Tinnu Anand) and soon begins to rise to Bollywood fame. In a bid to get the attention film-makers and change her image she hires Rahul (Salman Khan) to pose as her future husband but Rahul has other ideas, one of which is blackmail. In the 2nd story, Gia Bakshi (Ayesha Takia) is the daughter of Major General Bakshi (Prem Chopra) and is engaged to marry Shiven Dungarpur (Akshaye Khanna), but Shiven has 2nd thoughts so Gia’s father arranges for her to marry Rohit Chaddha (Kushal Punjabi). However, Shiven begins to realise what he has done. Meanwhile in the UK Gia's sister, Seema (Juhi Chawla) discovers her husband Vinay Malhotra (Anil Kapoor) of 15 years and the father to her two children is having an affair with a woman called Anjali (Anjana Sukhani). Back in India Ashutosh Raina (John Abraham), a Hindi film editor, marries to Tehzeeb Hussain (Vidya Balan) who is Muslim. Tehzeeb is subsequently disowned by her father. Whilst on an assignment as a TV news-reporter, the train on which she is travelling derails and Tehzeeb loses her memory in the accident. In the 5th story Raju (Govinda), a New Dehli taxi-driver, collects Stephanie (Shannon Esra) from the airport. She has arrived from the UK to try to find her lover, Rohit. The trail takes the pair through Northern India to the venue where Rohit is preparing to marry Gia. Finally Ramdayal (Sohail Khan) and Phoolwati (Isha Koppikar) are deeply in love but the pair seem to be continuously presented with events which prevent them from spending any intimate moments together. Salamm-e-ishq was not critically well received but did well amongst audiences particularly in Inida, US, UK and Australia.
