Directed by Tom Clegg Sharpe’s Regiment was the 9th episode of the series and continues to follow the escapades of Richard Sharpe through the Napoleonic Wars; the story was based on the book of the same name by Bernard Cornwell. It is now 1813 and Sharpe (Sean Bean) has been promoted to Major. He is sent from Spain with Sergeant Major Harper (Daragh O’Malley) back to England to find out why replacements have not been sent. Sharpe is introduced to Lord Fenner (Nicholas Farrell) following an audience with the Prince Regent (Julian Fellows). Fenner turns out to be the man responsible for South Essex’s lack of reinforcements. Sharpe and Harper then go undercover and enlist in the South Essex to find out what exactly happens to new recruits.
