Directed by Simon Cellan Jones and written by Allan Cubitt, it was produced by Tiger Aspect Productions for the BBC and scripted by Cubitt as the sequel to the same company’s adaptation of The House of the Baskervilles. Set in 1903 Dr Watson (Ian Hart) seeks help from the retired and rather bored Sherlock Holmes (Rupert Everett) who decides to emerge from his retirement to solve the case of a murderer who is stalking the young daughters of British aristocrats. As the plot unfurls it appears the murder has a foot fetish.
