Printer friendly version >
This Bollywood family romance was directed by Anupam Sinha and tells the tale of Karam (Anupam Kher) and Sandhya (Rati Agnihotri) Jindal and Karam's mother, Gayatri (unknown) who immigrate to London. Soon after their arrival Gayatri passes away due to cancer. Two daughters, Anjali (Indraneil Sengupta) and Sanam (Shriya Sharan) are then born to the couple who ultimately become extremely wealthy. The story moves to Karam's 60th birthday celebrations arranged by Anjali who is happily married, but Sanam has not found her true love. Karam is however hopeful Sanam will marry Yash (Indraneel). Meanwhile the inauguration of the "Gayatri Jindal Cancer Hospital" is to take place on the same day as his birthday and he brings home Rohan "Ricky" Verma for a few days. Sanam already knows Ricky and is attracted to him, but both mother and daughter are shocked when Karam opposes the relationship. However Karam has just cause as he knows Ricky is not what he appears to be. He is actually is Death itself and is only accompanying Karam during his final days on Earth! Shukriya: Till Death Do Us Apart was inspired by the Hollywood film Meet Joe Black (1998), but was not critically well received.
