This BAFTA nominated family drama is set during a long English summer in the early 1980s. It is a comedy about friendship, faith and growing up; a slice of how wonderful it feels to be 11 years old with no limits to what you and your friends can do. The production was filmed at Elstree Studios.

Locations used for this production:

  • Ashlyns School (not accessible) >
Son of Rambow was filmed at Ashlyns School which is not open to the public. The filming made a positive impact on the local community, not only did the school benefit from location fees but students and teachers from Ashlyn's School were used as extras in the film. A special preview screening of Son of Rambow was held for the staff and students of Ashlyn's School at the Rex Cinema with Director, Garth Jennings and Producer, Nick Goldsmith making personal appearances to offer their thanks. Unsuprisingly, Ashlyns School was used as the film location for the school which Lee and Will attend. Location Manager David Broder told us, Berkhamsted was the perfect location to set Son of Rambow
