George Lucas brought the 6th and final Star Wars film to the screen, the 3rd in the Star Wars saga. Whilst nominated for an Oscar, Hayden Christensen won the Razzie award for Worst Supporting Actor. In order to save Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) confront Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) in a lightsaber duel; Anakin hesitantly kills Dooku under Palpatine’s orders. They escape and Anakin is subsequently re-united with his wife, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), who is now pregnant with their first child. He is subsequently haunted by dreams of her death in childbirth, and becomes intrigued by the possibility of preventing death through the dark side of the force. Ultimately he finds he must choose between his training as a Jedi Knight and the dark side. It is this film that sets the stage for the next three Star Wars films. Once again, Lucas returned to Elstree Studios, whilst being based at 20th Century Fox’s studios in Australia; set builds also took place at Shepperton Studios in London. Location filming occurred in Switzerland, China, Italy and Thailand. Upon release Revenge of the Sith had relatively good reviews. With a budget of $113 million, it went on to gross $848 million worldwide which was better than its predecessor. It was the highest grossing film of 2005, 2nd only to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
