Stardust is an epic fairy tale with an all star cast. In the hopes of winning the heart of Victoria (Sienna Miller), Tristan (Charlie Cox) goes on a quest to find the falling star. During his journey his discovers the beautiful Yvaine. Meanwhile an old witch queen, Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer) attempts to steal Yvaine's heart to re-capture her own youth and Tristan does everything possible to protect her.

Ashridge Estate >
The wall dividing the Kingdom of Stormhold from the village of Wall was temporarily constructed in a valley on the National Trust's Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire. Opening scenes show the beauty of the Estate as Young Dunstan (Ben Barnes), Tristan's father, crosses the boundary into the world beyond. 18 years later Tristan attempts to woo Victoria by laying on a picnic. It is then that they both see a falling star. A later scene finds Tristan approaching the wall on his quest to retrieve the star only to be embarrassingly thwarted by the 97 year old guard (David Kelly). Tristan however finds another way and The movie returns to the wall later in the film and sees Yvaine attempt to follow Tristan only to be deterred by Una. Meanwhile Ditchwater Sal frees herself from the back of the caravan just as Lamia pulls up in her carriage resulting in a fantastical battle between the two witches. Tristan eventually arrives after all the commotion to find Yvaine gone and sets off in desperate pursuit to save Yvaine. Meanwhile Prince Septimus (Mark Strong) charges up to the wall on horseback desperate to claim the jewel worn by Yvaine to achieve his ambition of becoming King of Stormhold. He too follows in pursuit.

Britons Arms Coffee House and Restaurant >
The 14th century coffee house in Norwich's Elm Hill was completely transformed into Stormhold's hostelry, 'The Slaughtered Prince'. The exteriors of the coffee house appear several times. A key scene is when Ditchwater Sal arrives in Stormhold with Tristan and Yvaine in the back of her caravan. The couple walk through the crowd to the inn to rest. Meanwhile the ghosts of the dead princes are seen sitting under the sign of the Inn speculating.

Elm Hill >
Elm Hill is in the centre of the historic City of Norwich and was completely transformed for the film in accordance with strict heritage specifications. Elm Hill was selected due to the beautiful timber-framed buildings and old fashioned cobbles making it perfect to become a bustling street in the magical town of Stormhold. In the first scene with Elm Hill as the backdrop, Young Dunstan visits the town where he meets a slave girl, Una (Kate Magowan) who is not all that she seems. She gives him a glass snowdrop and tells him it will cost a kiss. The outcome of their meeting is baby Tristan. 18 years later Ditchwater Sal (Melanie Hill) drives her caravan into Stormhold and drives past 'The Slaughtered Prince' Inn and Ditchwater Sal restores Tristan from mouse to man! A later scene sees Una driving the Ditchwater Sal's caravan frantically through Stormhold. The archway which features as a backdrop in a number of scenes was computer generated onto Elm Hill having been shot at a private house in Norfolk.

Elveden Hall >
A private house on the Elveden Estate was used for an interior scene featuring the old King (Peter O'Toole) on his deathbed and the ghosts of his dead sons Quartus (Julian Rhind-Tutt), Sextus (David Walliams) and Quintus (Adam Buxton). He tells his remaining four sons Septimus, Tertius (Mark Heap), Secundas (Rupert Everett) and Primus (Jason Fleming) about his succession plans. Secundas however is thwarted from his attempt to secure the thrown by Septimus much to King's amusement. It is at this point that the King's jewel is miraculously turned from a ruby into an ordinary white stone which magically flies through an open window into the night sky. So begins the quest to claim the crown by the remaining brothers. Their ghostly siblings however are never far away.

Strangers' Hall >
Strangers' Hall in Norwich was used for the interiors of 'The Slaughtered Prince' Inn. The first scene shot inside the Hall sees Tristan descend the stairs to find the Inn Keeper (Jeff Bell) to ask him to give a message to Yvaine. Yvaine also descends the exact same stairs some hours later only to be told the message, which has been slightly altered in translation. As a result, Yvaine is completely mystified and goes in search of Tristan.
