Directed by John Mackenzie The Fourth Protocol was based loosely on a novel by Frederick Forsyth, and has KGB Agent Major Valerie Petrofsky (Pierce Brosnan) assigned on a mission to establish a residence near an American military base which he carries out so as to receive courier packages from Moscow. Meanwhile John Preston (Michael Caine) works for British Intelligence and is assigned to monitor activity at airports and ports. As a result Preston discovers a piece of an atomic device in the possession of a dead courier who is on his way to rendezvous with a Soviet agent. Preston sets about finding out who the Soviet agent is.
