Directed and written by Sandra Goldbacher, this drama romance is set in the 1830’s and tells the story of the wealthy Rosina da Silva (Minni Driver) who finds herself needing to find employment following the death of her father. She changes her name to disguise her identity and finds employment with the Cavendish family in Scotland, who live on the Isle of Skye. She subsequently begins an affair with the father, Charles Cavendish (Tom Wilkinson) which is complicated when his son, Henry (Jonathan Rhys Myers) is expelled from Oxford and returns home. The Governess received mixed reviews, although Minni Driver’s performance was well received overall.
