This Oscar nominated family comedy was directed by Jim Henson and written by Tom Patchett and Jay Tarses. It tells the tale of Kermit the Frog (voice of Jim Henson), Gonzo the Great (voice of Dave Goelz) and Fozzie Bear (voice of Frank Oz) who are reporters. In the course of their work they travel to Britain to interview a victim of jewel thieves, Lady Holiday (voice of Diana Rigg). Her secretary, Miss Piggy (voice of Frank Oz) pretends to be Lady Holiday to impress Kermit and sneaks him into a beautifully decorated townhouse to the surprise of one of the residents, Neville (voice by John Cleese). Miss Piggy subsequently gets framed for the jewellery theft. Peter Ustinov provided the voice for the Truck Driver. The Great Muppet Caper filmed at Elstree Studios and was generally well received although it only grossed $31.2 million which put it behind the previous two Muppet pictures.
