Nominated for two BAFTAs ‘The History Boys’ is an entertaining British comedy set in Yorkshire in 1983. Adapted from the play of the same name which ran at the National Theatre for over a year, the film stars the original stage cast.

  • St John's College  >
    Having completed the exam, the boys are invited to participate in an interview at the colleges they are interested in. Half the group head to Oxford and the remainder to Cambridge. Scenes shot on location at a number of Cambridge colleges include one showing Crowther (Samuel Anderson) on the Bridge of Sighs and at St John's College. Another has the Tudor Court at Queens College forming the backdrop for Lockwood's (Andrew Knott) visit. It is during this time that Dakin (Dominic Cooper) discovers Irwin is not all he appears to be.

  • Watford's Grammar Schools >
    Watford Boys Grammar School provided the backdrop for the exterior school scenes, including those in the play ground and on the playing field. Many of the extras were boys attending the school.
