With direction and screenplay by Oliver Parker and based on the play of the same name by Oscar Wilde, this romantic comedy drama tells the tale of two English Edwardian gentlemen, Algemon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff (Rupert Everett) and John ‘Jack’ Worthing (Colin Firth) who lead double lives in the country where they court society women under false identities. The importance of Being Earnest had an all star cast including Reese Witherspoon (Cecily), Judi Dench (Lady Bracknell), Tom Wilkinson (Dr Chasuble) and Edward Fox (Lane).
