Based on a novel by Dorothea Bennett, The Jigsaw Man is a story of espionage. An MI6 defector Sir Philip Kimberly, who was the former Head of the British Secret Service, has his appearance altered by the KGB and is sent back to Britain to retrieve top-secret documents. Unbeknownst to the KGB, Kimberly had another plan. The other key role in the film is that of Admiral Sir Gerald Scaith played by Lawrence Olivier. Whilst based at Shepperton Studios, location filming took place in Finland and England.
