Lair of White Worm, The

This horror thriller (also known as The Garden of Evil) was loosely based on the novel by Bram Stoker (author of Dracula). With direction and screenplay by Ken Russell, the plot has Angus Flint (Peter Capaldi), an archaeologist discovering a strange skull within the ruins of a convert he is excavating. Angus later meets Lord James D'Ampton (Hugh Grant) and learns of the D’Ampton Worm, a legendary snake that had been killed by one of his ancestors. People subsequently begin to go missing so D’Ampton and Flint investigate. They discover a secret cult which worships the Worm but also conducts sacrifices. Catherine Oxenberg plays Eve Trent and Amanda Donohoe plays Lady Sylvia Marsh. The Lair of the White Worm filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood with an estimated budget of $2.5 million.
