Directed by Michael Apted, The World is Not Enough was the 19th Bond film and the third to have Pierce Brosnan in the lead role as 007. The story begins with the murder of Sir Robert King (David Calder), a British oil tycoon and friend of M (Judi Dench), by Renard (Robert Carlyle) a former KGB agent now terrorist. Bond is assigned to protect, King’s daughter, Elektra (Sophie Marceau). Meanwhile he begins to expose a plot to increase the price of petroleum by instigating a nuclear meltdown. Despite the mixed reviews, the film grossed over $361 million worldwide and was for a time the highest grossing Bond picture ever made. John Cleese plays R, Michael Kitchen plays Tanner, Patrick Malahide plays Lachaise and Omid Djalili makes an appearance as a foreman.

    The hotel was used for the entrance of Elektra’s villa. It was also used as the backdrop for a later scene: following the attack on Bond and Elektra by paragliders in armed snowmobiles, Bond goes to see Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane) at his casino to find out who the attackers might be. It transpires that Elektra’s Head of Security, Davidov, (Ulrich Thomsen) is on Renard’s payroll.
