Thunderpants is about a young boy's amazing ability to break wind which leads him to fame and fortune and eventually into space! It has Stephen Fry as Sir Anthony Silk and Celia Imrie as Miss Rapier; Fry and Imrie come together again and star in ITV’s Kingdom which also shot on location in the region. Directed by Peter Hewitt and based on a story by Hewitt adapted for the screen, Patrick Smash (Bruce Cook) is born with two stomachs. Almost immediately after his birth he breaks wind to the horror of his parents and the doctor (Robert Hardy). Patrick’s only friend is the extraordinarily intelligent, Alan A. Allen (Rupert Grint). The two join forces and make Patrick a special space suit to accommodate the additional gas he emits to help him achieve his dream of going into space and the rest becomes history. This family film was largely well received, particularly by children.
