This romantic comedy was directed by Richard Loncraine, written by Adam Brooks and Jennifer Flackett, and inspired by the achievements of Goran Ivanisevic who, as a wild-card, won Wimbledon in 2001 . It tells the tale of tennis pro, Peter Colt (Paul Bettany), who has lost his ambition and has fallen in the tennis rankings. He meets an American rising star, Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst) on the tennis circuit, is inspired and decides he is going to attempt to win Wimbledon. In the meantime, he falls in love with Lizzie but her father, Dennis (Sam Neill) is less than impressed as he feels the relationship will have an adverse effect on Lizzie’s career. James McAvoy plays Peter’s brother Carl, John McEnroe and Chris Evert play themselves.
